Teas & Coffee

38 St Giles Breakfast Blend

This most English of blends was supposedly first dreamt up by the Housekeepers of Balmoral castle in Scotland for Queen Victoria. The Queen was reputed to take each morning at Breakfast a tea made with the finest produce of the Empires tea producing provinces.
Our Breakfast tea has been custom created in partnership with local tea specialist Wilkinson's of Norwich. Our “house” Breakfast blend is made from top quality Assam and Ceylon teas to create a strong satisfying tea that is full of character. Equally at home as a Strong Black tea our Breakfast blend will happily take milk and sugar to taste and still retain its unique savour.

Earl Grey

Earl grey is an English Classic, it is particularly English in its origin as it was first created as a gift to his lord ship; Earl Grey. Mr Grey served as a Diplomat to the court of the Emperor of China in the middle of the nineteenth century.
Since its first introduction many variations of this classic Tea blend have been introduced, this one is made alongh traditional recipes. A fine Black China teas serves as the basis of the blend which is then gently infused with natural Oil of Bergamot (not the synthetic alternative) to grant it its distinctive floral aroma. A handful of dried Jasmine flowers are then added in honour of the Emperor to complete this delightful tea blend. Drink black or with just a little milk or lemon if you prefer.
Seasonal speciality tea - Dejoo ‘special leaf’ Assam
To drive away the cold of November we bring you some of the very best Single Estate Assam. From the Dejoo estate this Special tea is made from the uppermost leaves of the plant where the most delicate flavours can be found. As an Assam it will be full of flavour and can take milk and sugar if desired, but Tea of this quality should at least be sipped black once to fully appreciate the depth of the flavours available from this high class Estate tea.
Smooth on the pallet and not harsh like some more basic Assam's, this tea has a well-rounded flavour with notes of Assam's traditional “maltyness” but with a creamy non astringent finish. Available throughout the month of November.

Coffee

The cafetiere coffee we serve is a single origin coffee from Fimca Santa Lucia in Guatemala. The raw beans are directly traded from a farmer called Pedro Lopez Xutuc to Strangers coffee house & roastery in Norwich. Our coffee is then roasted to a specific recipe for our house blend. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
